Cellular Antennas
What are cellular antennas?
Cellular antennas are antennas used in cellular mobile communications systems, primarily for wireless communications. Cellular mobile communication systems support multiple simultaneous communication sessions within a limited wireless spectrum resource by dividing a large geographic area into multiple small areas (i.e., “cells”), each of which uses a specific frequency for communication.
In these systems, antennas play a critical role in transmitting and receiving wireless signals to establish and maintain the communication link between the mobile device and the base station. This technology is widely used in cellular phones or cell phones, so these devices are often referred to as cellular phones.
Cellular antenna is an important part of cellular mobile communication system and its main function is to receive and transmit radio signals. It wirelessly connects the base station and mobile station to realize the transmission of services such as voice, data multimedia, etc.
Cellular antenna frequency band coverage
Cellular antennas are usually designed to cover specific wireless communication frequency bands, such as 2G, 3G, 4G, 5G, GSM, UMTS, CBRS, LTE, and other frequency bands used by mobile communication standards.
Cellular antenna working principle
The working principle of a Cellular antenna is based on the propagation of electromagnetic waves, and the data transmission and reception are realized by receiving and transmitting electromagnetic waves through the antenna.
Transmitting signals
The transmitting device uniquely edits the signal and sends it out through the antenna. When this open antenna inputs alternating current, the electric field magnetic field is alternately induced and the energy of the antenna is transmitted.
Receiving signals
When the electromagnetic wave from the transmitting antenna touches the receiving antenna, it will generate an induction current on the receiving antenna, and after demodulation of these signals, a transmission of signals from the transmitting end to the receiving end is completed.
What are the types of cellular antennas?
Cellular antennas can be categorized into various types according to their design, purpose, and shape such as PCB antennas, flexible PCB antennas, microstrip antennas, rubber duck antennas, magnetic mount antennas, adhesive patch antennas, yagi antennas, sector antennas, fiberglass antennas, and so on.
Applications of Cellular antennas
Cellular antennas are widely used in various cellular mobile communication devices.
Cellular phones
Cellular antenna is the most common application scenario, users can make calls, and send SMS and data transmission through a cellular phone.
Wireless Phones
Cellular antennas are used in fixed or mobile wireless communication devices.
Broadband network access
Cellular antennas provide high-speed data transmission services to support a variety of online applications and services.
Wireless positioning systems
Cellular antennas are used to locate and track the position of mobile devices.
Mobile multimedia
Cellular antennas support multimedia applications such as video calling and streaming services.
Mobile communication base station
Base stations use Cellular antennas to establish communication links with mobile devices. These antennas are usually mounted on base station towers or buildings to provide a wide coverage area.
In-vehicle communication systems
In vehicles, Cellular antennas are used to enable communication between the vehicle and the mobile communication network. This helps in providing services such as voice calls, data connectivity, and navigation.
Internet of Things (IoT) devices
With the development of IoT technology, more and more devices need to be connected to mobile communication networks. Cellular antennas play a key role in these devices, enabling them to be monitored and controlled remotely.
In addition, Cellular antennas are used in smart homes, smart lighting, smart security, smart cars, and other fields to provide more services and convenience.
